Health Checks performed on fleet of twelve Mark V’s

A great example of a customer wanting to “Keep The Control” recently involved a Mark V user with a total of twelve units, each with Mark V enrolling in our Health Check program. This program ensures the continued safe and efficient operation of the controls. Over a period of 24 days one of our Mark V Control Engineers thoroughly tested all of the panels and proactively resolved any minor faults discovered. Each unit received a comprehensive report detailing all of the tests carried out along with any faults found and recommendations for the future.

Together with Mark V/Mark Ve, GTC also provides Health Checks for the Mark IV, Mark VI, Mark VIe as well as the Excitation and LCI systems.

LCI Troubleshooting

An end-user in Europe recently experienced prolonged downtime due to a fault within their LCI. After months of failed attempts by the OEM to resolve the issue, the end-user reached out to GTC. Upon discussing the issue with one of our Excitation/LCI experts the end-user was confident in our knowledge and ability and requested we mobilize to site. Within the first day at site, the fault was identified and quickly rectified. In addition to this, our engineer proactively adjusted some of the SEM operating values in accordance with the GE LCI drawing and manually charged the LCI transformer feeder breaker to return it to its automatic charging function. These actions as well as others resulted in the successful operation of the LCI synchronous condenser.

Since this initial project, GTC has been requested to return to site to assist with other issues and is set to go back again to perform a 5 year major maintenance inspection of the EX2000 and LCI.
